EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT NEW—TO DANNY PHANTOM, ROLEPLAYING, OR EVEN BOTH—YOU ARE EXPECTED TO READ THIS.
Some of you may be new to the world of roleplaying and don't understand all of the terms we seasoned veterans use, such as OOC, IC, PP, GM, etc. The first section is to help those of you need this information. The second is for you people who like how the site works, think there's a cool plot, but don't know anything about the show it's based off of.
Section One: A Guide To Roleplaying In General.
What is Roleplaying?
Pretty much, you read a post, then you type and post a reply. It's like writing a book with anywhere from one to a million different people working on it with you. Read a few threads and you'll get it soon enough.
How should I write it?
Write it in third person. That goes as a rule around here. Also, past tense. I can't stress it enough. No present tense except in speech or thought. No future tense except in foreshadowing in flashbacks (example is the history part of Danny's character sheet) or when your character is thinking ahead.
What's a plot?
The story-line. On DPHU, we get a new plot every New Years. Therefore, the first few months of this site's being open will be completely plot-less, but rather to be used for everyone to get their characters, get some friendships for 'em, and set things up for a plot. That way, we hopefully have more than five people signed up by the time the plot is started.
What are the terms used by other players, and what do they mean?
OOC — Out Of Character. Anything included in a roleplay post that is the actual player speaking, not the character.
OOG — Out Of Game. Same as above.
IC — In Character. Usually used to switch back to in character typing after OOC or OOG is used.
IG — In Game. Same as above.
GM — God Moddind. This is used to refer to a type of cheating, in which one takes advantage of the no PP rule and avoids all hits in combat.
PP — Power Playing. This is used to refer to a type of cheating, in which one takes control of the other person's character.
RPG — Role Playing Game. Used to refer to a place like DPHU, a forum-based roleplay site.
RPGs — Role Playing Games. Same as above, but plural.
RPGer — Role Playing Gamer. Used to refer to a fellow player on an RPG.
RPGers — Role Playing Gamers. Same as above, but plural.
RP — Role Play. Same as RPG.
RPs — Role Plays. Same as above, but plural.
RPer — Role Player. Same as RPGer.
RPers — Role Players. Same as above, but plural.
IRL — In Real Life. Exactly what it sounds like.
PM — Personal Message. The in-site Instant Messaging system.
Char — Short for Character.
Banned — Someone who was booted from the site for breaking the rules.
Owner — Here, it means Rachel. Just Rachel. She is the goddess here. She started the site, she built the site. I'm her not-so-humble sidekick.
Co-Owner — Second in command next to the Queen around here. This refers to me on DPHU. And, just so you know, I'm not as evil or strict as I sound, I just have a rather sadistic and sarcastic sense of humor. XD
Admin — Someone like Felix. Kinda like my second in command. Just below me in ranks, but their word is LAW.
GMod — Second in command next to the Admins. Their word is also law.
Mod — Lowest level of the Staffers, but a Staffer all the same. They tell you not to do something again, you heed their warning.
Section Two: A Guide To Danny Phantom.
What is Danny Phantom?
Danny Phantom is a show on Nickelodeon about a kid who's name is Danny and who's half ghost. Now he has to run from his ghost hunter parents for more than just his sanity. Thing is, they don't know it's him when they see Phantom (who is the guy in the logo, if you can't guess). So now there's also his secret identity to protect. And the whole time, he's fighting off evil ghosts. I have links to online locations for every episode currently out.
What's a "Halfa"?
Half-a-human-half-a-ghost. Half-a. Halfa. Pretty easy to figure out, no?
